What is a Home Inspection Report?

Short answer

A home inspection report is a written assessment of a residential property's physical condition produced by a licensed home inspector after a visual, non-invasive inspection. The report documents observed defects, severity, photo evidence, and recommendations.

Long answer

Most home inspection reports run 25–60 pages and cover the exterior, roof, attic, interior rooms, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and major appliances. Every finding includes a photo, a severity classification (typically Safety, Major, Concern, or Note), and a recommended action. Modern reports are delivered as both a static PDF and an interactive HTML report through a client portal.
